Through this Post-Secondary Education Support Program, the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) provides financial assistance to Métis students who are enrolled in eligible post-secondary programs.
The MMF Post-Secondary Education Support Program aims to improve the education of students from the Manitoba Métis community by providing them with funding to access educational opportunities at the post-secondary level. Eligible post-secondary levels institutions include:
The program is administered by the Manitoba Métis Federation. The MMF is responsible for determining the funding and selection criteria. The Government of Canada provides funding for this program as part of a funding agreement with the MMF.
Eligible costs covered by the program may include tuition, books, travel support and living allowances. In the 2019-2020 academic year, the maximum amount payable per full-time student cannot exceed $5,000.
On an extraordinary and justified basis, the maximum amount payable per year for a student in an advanced or professional degree program or a Master’s or Doctoral program may exceed $5,000 up to a maximum of $8,500. No student is automatically entitled to this amount.
